What are the requirements to rent a cart?

The primary renter, or contract holder, must be at least 25 years old, possess a valid drivers license and major credit card, and show proof of current auto insurance policy. Any additional drivers must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid drivers license and auto insurance. Debit cards can be used for payment but a credit card in the primary renter’s name must also be presented. The primary renter (person signing contract and accepting responsibility for cart) must visit us in person to complete all paperwork and review the rules and map.

Where can I drive the cart?

Golf carts are permitted to drive on the two lane roads on Tybee. Carts are not permitted on the beaches, sidewalks, or bike paths. Additionally, carts are not permitted on the four lane road, Highway 80/Butler, that runs through the middle of Tybee. However, Highway 80/Butler can be crossed at traffic lights (Campbell Ave, Jones Ave, 14th Street). Should I rent a gas or electric cart?

Gas carts use a minimal amount of premium unleaded gasoline; electric carts require that the renter have access to a standard electrical outlet to charge the cart overnight and as needed. Depending on where you are staying on Tybee, we can recommend if one type of cart will work better for your situation. Some properties require a certain type of cart so feel free to contact us if you have questions.
